Is there any other software on the market like director?

Are there any other software packages on the market that can create interactive CD-ROMS? and are they any good?

Not to start a flame war here, but look into Flash. There is Authorware, but I am not a big fan of that.

There are two other apps that may be worth considering, they are Illuminatus (made by JASC who make PaintShop Pro) and Magenta (which is more of an object based multimedia app). Both are available from there respective websites.

P.S. Both are an awful lot cheaper than Director too!

If you look closer and deeper into director there is also an awful lot more possible with director too. Magenta and illumisomething are not too fantaswtic, but pretty nice indeed. If you don't ask the programs to be overcomplete You can use them pretty well.
