Is there any application for vectorize images, similar to corel trace, but that allows me to save in .AI and other vectorial formats??
how can i make a text be around a e.g circle or other forms with AI CS?

Nad:

The application that Adobe has for this purpose is "Streamline", but I'm unsure if it's still available, it has not been updated in many years. Generally, the best advice for vectorizing art is to re-draw it with the pen tool. Quality will be much better that way.

Text on a circle (or any path), use the Text on a Path tool, it's one of the tools that pops out if you click and hold the type tool in the toolbar.

Depending on how complicated the artwork is, you could open in Photoshop and export paths to Illustrator.

Using OSX 10.3.8 on a G4

thanks for ypur help but i'm afraid streamline is not appropiate because last time i used it, it resulted in the damage of the TWAIN driver for my scanner, finally it made me reinstall win.

Try Freehand, it's a pretty usefull tool for creating freehand (hence the name) artwork to re-draw things. As far as vectorizing raster based images, Illustrator CS2 has some abilities but nothing impressive. You're pretty much stuck with streamline, unless someone else knows of a program I don't. Just re-draw it.

That's a bit of a broad statement. I personally have been astonished at how good some of the Autotrace results are. It depends very much of course on the quality of the original image and how clearly defined the areas to be traced are, and choosing the right type of autotrace tool, but I think it's the best I've seen, short of using the Pen Tool to totally redraw.
