Is there an easy solution to send "secure email?"

HR has been sending out emails to other companies/contacts with personal information in them and I'm wondering if there is some sort of way to encrypt the emails and secure as they are sent.

I looked at PGP and it looked like a decent product but the only caveat was that the receiver also had to have the PGP desktop client installed to "de-crypt" and read the email. Will be tough and cumbersome to get other companies to install a product so they can read our secure emails. Is there an easier solution?

Maybe something that can secure the email and you just send the public key to the user so they can open it and not have to install any software on their machine?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

You could use TLS to encrypt the connection, assuming the other side supports it.

[google]Exchange TLS[/google]

Any kind of encryption solution is going to require both sides of the conversation to be setup for it. TLS is widely used, easy to setup, and works at the server level instead of the client level.

Thanks for the info...

Since it is on the server, it would encrypt everythign correct? What if we just wanted to encrypt only certain emails from one user?

Thanks again!
