Is there an easier way to distribute packages?

Once I modify a VBA Subroutine or modify a form, I know I can just export the package on my workstation and then import it on other workstations..

but considering I have hundreds of workstation and spread across different buildings for me to go to every single workstation and import the packages would be a hassle.

We are currently just "pushing" the dictionary files and vba files across the network to the workstation, but I don't like this system.

What I am wondering is if there is a cmd file or a location where I can put the package file and have the users GP client installation look for packages in that location and add them... similar to the chunk file from dexterity.

Using a central update area accessed by a login script to xcopy any new or updated files works well.

As long as each workstation is installed in the same folder you should not have any problems with VBA references stored in the .VBA files. In this case copying the final VBA file should work fine.

Copying dictionaries (application, custom forms and custom reports) works fine too.

There is only one "Gotcha". When you exit from Great Plains the last modified dates on the custom forms and reports dictionaries is updated. This means you will need to make sure that the dates on the custom dictionaries in the update area are later than ones on the users workstations. I am assuming xcopy is set to only copy new and updated files rather than everything.
