We want to place some audio files on our site. We want to use both aif and wav files. When the user enters the page, the aif starts automatically.

Currently we are using the <embed> feature which displays a console. The console gives the visitor the ability to control the file. The console does not always display.

Solution, me thinks, use text links to control the playing of the file. i.e. a link which will stop autoplay, and a link that will start it up again.

Does anyone know if there is a way of doing this?

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob

You can use javascripting to do so. But, I do not believe in embedding audio into a website, or having the ability to play it while the audio is on my server (you want to hear it? download it), so I do not know the actual script. Ask in the Java script forum

For the 'play' link, use your actual audio file.

For the 'stop' link, use a small silent audio file. The silent sound should replace the active sound file in the browser's associated player.
