Is there a way to set-up a second company sharing the same system with a Merlin Magix. These are copper co lines. I want the extensions in the second company when they dial 9 have access to lines in 890 and the extensions in first company when dial 9 to get pool 70. Any ideas? Greatly appreciated.

You can hook them together with tie trunks and share dial plan. Must be a Legend/Magix/or Definity at second office. Must have 400Tie E&M cards to hook them together. The installation and programming manuals talk about this. The planning manual is also a good resource when setting up a new configuration. You can get these from the AVAYA Elmo docs at their web site.

I think what you want to do is separate line usage for the two companies. First, instead of having them both dial 9, don't. Instead, renumber the 890 pool to a 5 or 6, if you've used a standard dial plan configuration, and give each extension in the non-dial-9 group and set the dial out code for these extensions to that new pool number. That gives them access to these trunks. Finally, lower there ARS FRL to one less than that necessary to use the "dial 9" in your ARS table. Isolation done.

Thanks guys, I actually want to separate 3 companies using 1 phone system (Merlin Magix) and be able to use "9" as the dial out code for all the companies. I want it divided so that each company will use their own lines and have no access to the other companies lines. After a lot of work and hair pulling I figured it out. It involved a lot of work but works like a charm. It involves ARS FRL, pool dial out codes and a virtual line card.

phoneuser, I'm glad you got it to work. Since some folks were kind enough to provide advice you sought, could you take a moment to describe for us (in a little more detail) how you shared the Magix with multiple firms? This might make excellent FAQ fodder. Thanks!

Phoneuser,
Please,Please let me know how you managed to programme 3 companies to access 9.
I have a salesman whose deal is depending on this application to work.
Many thanks in advance.

If you want to e-mail me the print-out of the system than I may figure out how you did this.
my e-mail is guestworks@hotmail.com.

thanks again.

There are some problems with this setup. The dial 0 table and 411,611,811 table only allow for one pool so an line access button will be needed whenever making overseas and directory assistance calls. In winspm create a 008 line card in an available slot not already being used by a physical board. Now for company A assign lines of company A to first pool 70 and assign a virtual line from the virtual 800 card to the second pool 890. In company B assign lines to pool 891 and assign a virtual line to 892. In ars tables depending on which release of magix or legend set the default toll and local routes with pool 70 with frl 6 and the second pool 890 with frl 5 pool 891 with frl 4 and pool 892 w/ frl 3. * remember to change this for both frl table a and b or it will not work. Now in extensions set dial outcd for company A 70 and extensions in company
B with 891. Set extensions in company A with ars restriction 6 and company B with ars restriction 4. Make sure you setup E911 partition or your 911 calls are not going to route properly. Set ars 411 and dial 0 table to frl 6. In merlin messaging you will need to set your dial 0 option for autoattendant to go to the approiate place and each extensions personal operator to go to the right place. Programing this setup will require some expertise and experience with the merlin legend/magix because there are a lot of details and if not done properly will cause problems. If you want this done properly you should find a qualified Avaya business partner to program these changes. I know this does not give step by step but it would take about 30 pages to explain. Good luck to all who are going to program this because it took me about 4 times the amount of time if I programed these companies separately.
