We just upgraded to Exchange 2000 and we want to set up a calender in the public folder of outlook that can have our company wide events, projects due dates, milestones...etc. Is there a way to add a calender to the public folder?

If not, is there a way that you can grant certain users rights to view other users calenders from their outlook?

sure you can do this. just change the type of folder from "mail items" to "appointment items" when creating the new folder from an Outlook client. make sure you have permissions to create public folders first....

Oh man was that easy...i feel stupid! lol

Thanks!

OK, secondary question...now that I have a public calender, is there any way I can set this up so that when someone enters an appointment into their personal mailbox calender it automatically copies it into the public calendar as well so they don't have to enter the data twice?

Not inherently. There may be 3rd party products that will perform this function though...

All right, not a huge problem I guess. We'll deal with it. Thanks.

One way to update a public calendar appointment to a personal calendar is to invite yourself to the appointment.

I have a similar issue, don't mean to gatecrash. I have rebuilt an entire (small) domain for a company and have reinstalled Exchange 2000 for them. (Their IT guy lost the plot and I was given a tape and a request to get it all working again for them ;) - yeah nice) The company use public folders and have a diary and contacts. I have created the necessary public folders with the correct folder settings. The folders can be viewed and contacts or appointments added respectively. The problem is this.

I have 2 folders with the old contacts and appointments in. I want to reimport the contacts and appointments if at all possible. The file types however are .eml - which it appears are Outlook Express files. What do I do.
I assume I can try and open up the files through Outlook Express but as they are not in a .pst (or anything) but quite literally listed, much like a folder full of .txt files, I am going to have a problem opening them all and then I have to export them somehow and reimport them into Exchange.

A quick summary is this:
I need to import .eml files into Exchange 2000 public folders.

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

Cheers
