Is there a way to get advised when a user modifies a file?

Hello!
I have a few users that use a shared folder to store Word documents. The thing is that one of the users sometimes make changes to a document and forget to tell the other users about the changes in that document. Is there a way to get a notification like Net Send to the other users everytime a document gets modified?

Any Ideas?
