I need to extract messages on the exchange server to some type of file. Is there a way to do this from exchange server? The issue is we transfer mail from exchange to UNIX via POP3. Our POP3 application is acting up so I would like to eliminate it all together by extracting the messages and then FTP'ing them to a UNIX directory...

Any ideas?

Exmerge is one way. Why are you wanting it as a file anyway? What kind of file? I'm confused :) Dan

Basically we have clients who send us information located in the header and body of the message. They send a text data file as an attachment. Currently an application gets the message and attachment for processing via POP3. The applicaiton is on UNIX. So I want to eliminate the POP3 interface. An idea came to me that consisted of parsing the header, body and attachment data into a file (as is done on the UNIX side) on the exchange server and then FTP it to UNIX. I could do what I need via an outlook client and vba but I do not know if I can do something like this in exchange.

It can be done. Might want to call our Dev support and get some ideas. I would check out msdn and see if they have sample code first. Dan
