A user sent this question to me:

Is there a way to send multiple reports (excel format) into a single report (excel format)?

I think what the user is doing is running a report with one parameter and then running it again with another parameter. He wants all of the outputs to go into one Excel file automatically.

I understand that I could simply allow multiple values of the parameters for him and let him add all of the parameters in one report but let's disregard that option. Maybe there is a way to do this with report packages? I heard something about packages in my training class...

Thanks,
Bessebo

Even if you used packages, the reports wouldn't export to a single Excel file. So I don't think that's going to solve your problem.

IIRC, an object package is a set of reports that will run consecutively. You only have to schedule the package, not each report.

A computer only does what you actually told it to do - not what you thought you told it to do.

Thanks Dell. I pretty much resolved his issue by just allowing him to enter multiple prompts within the report.

Web Intelligence reports have the ability to create multiple tabbed excel spreadsheet output.

This is a neat feature of WEBI not available in CR

That is nice to know as we are going to roll out WEBI over the next year...

The WebI multi-tabbed Excel Export is based on the fact that a WebI "document" can have multiple "reports" defined - each on a separate tab. It's not like being able to run a single report with different params and export each run to a new tab in Excel.

WebI is a really cool product, though. I've done a bunch of universe and report design over the couple of months and I'm having a lot of fun with it.

If you wish to do this type of multi-tab export with Crystal, consider one of the 3rd-party tools listed at
My Visual CUT software can burst a single report into multiple tabs in a single excel workbook 9each Group Level 1 becomes a separate tab. It can also add the export of one report as a tab in an existing excel workbook or append the exported data to an existing tab.

view, e-mail, export, burst, distribute, and schedule Crystal Reports.

Ido's app rocks. I reviewed it for a project I was working on and it did everything I needed it too. Not sure if the client every purchased it but I highly recommend it.
