I'm using Microsoft Word 2004 to create transcripts from lectures. I was asked to insert time markers, so created a style for them. Now they want the markers eliminated. Is there any way to delete both a style AND the text contained within that style in one or two simple moves?

If I need to use find and replace, can you please let me know precisely how to proceed? Thank you!

I can't speak for 2004 because I don't have a Mac but, on the PC, and presumably similar on the Mac: from the Menu, select Format > Styles and Formatting; in the Styles pane right click on your Style, select "Select all n instances", then press Delete. Right click the style again and select Delete.

If you need to use Find and Replace: put the cursor in the "Find what" box, click on "More" if need be to see the Format button at the bottom and then press it and select Style; from the list of Styles select the one you want to Find. Leave the "Replace with" box blank and press "Replace All".

Enjoy,
Tony

Thank you so much, Tony! Unfortunately, my 2004 Word for Mac does not have the "Select all n instances" function. However, I was able to delete the style plus the text using your Find and Replace instructions. Many, many thanks for solving something that has had me scratching my head for several days!!!

Just another thought:
If all of your markers have the same style on them: why not just change Format - Character of this style to Hidden?

I added this comment because I dislike killing information, because it might turn out to be valuable.

Hi Markus,

Excellent suggestion! This gives the option to use the style or hide it. Your comment about killing info is very well taken.

Bravo and thanks again.
