Is there a way to copy and paste DTS components?

I have a DTS that works on a particular source table.

I have about 9 of these source tables and each requires a slightly different DTS (although the general concept is the same). I am dealing with a server that already has hundreds of DTS packages installed and I would like to install these 9 different ones in just one file. Unfortunately, I cannot cut and paste the first one I have created (in the dTS editor). The only thing I can do is save the package as a new name. But this creates a separate DTS package.

Any ideas of how I can copy and paste stuff in the same package?

If I'm understanding you correctly, you are looking to copy a step (connection or ActiveX script) from one DTS package to another?

You should be able to copy and paste any steps from one package to another as long as you have both packages open.

If you are trying to use an existing connection in the same DTS package multiple times, you can create the initial connection, then when using that connection in different steps, select the appropriate connection custom control, specify "Existing Connection", and point to the initial connection created previously.

If this is not what you are looking for, please let me know.

From my knowledge there is no qucik fix for this. One alternate suggestion is leave the nine package seperately and create a new pacakge and call those pacakge to execute.

Good Luck.
