I have a website that has text files listed, when you click on the links IE opens the text documents, I would like IE to open the documents using notepad. I have notepad set as the application to open text documents in the windows file type association. I have read that removing the "browse in same window" check mark under the advanced settings can sometime fix this but that option appears to be disabled for the txt extention. I am running windows xp sp 2 in my environment and IE 7.x and IE 8.x Thank you in advance.

Can you offer a URL for your site so we can test?

Reason for asking is I'm assuming you want this to work this was for everyone that views the site and not just for yourself? If it's a global thing your looking for then it will be in the coding of the site not a local IE setting.
