Is there a way around an Internet Monitoring program?

I am an IT Support Tech for a company that just installed Internet Monitoring software on the network to track all internet traffic. Due to some discussions within the various areas, it seems that there may be an issue. The program is StellarIM and apparently just watches port 80, as far as the http:// web traffic is concerned. It also watches the chat ports (i.e., AIM's 5190 port). Is there a way to redirect internet traffic through a different port, bypassing the standard port, that would allow someone to potentially breach company policy? I would like to be able to put this to rest so that upper management doesn't have a fit. If anyone has any information, it would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
