First off, not a hardware person, just doing some research.
I need to try and find a program or software package that will generate an "Inventory" of existing directories on a server. Basically, we had a server crash and had to restore it from tape backups. We soon found that our tape backups were missing some new directories on the server. This was a configuration error in the backup process itself. We have since fixed that problem.

Is there anything out there that has the capability or something similar to list out directories and/or possibly subdirectories?

Thanks for any suggestions.

For a simple command line util you could use there is the "tree" command, Just type tree at the command prompt, lists all the directories in the directory you are presently located; for all the directories on your volume, you would need to be at the "root" eg c:\, d:\ etc. . Type tree /? for other parameters. Tree >lpt1 should get you a printed version.

I use STG Folder Print Plus ( )

I mostly use it for printing folder structures but you can export to a variety of file formats (text, Excel etc) to keep a record. There's an option to only show folder and not file level to.

Both are great! I think I will use the STG Folder Print Plus program due to the detail that it can report. Thanks again for the tips!
