I've just taken over a Win2K data shared server. Is there a tool or a way to find what folders as specific user has rights to, and if necessary remove that user from folders.
The user was a the top level and was removed but I am now finding the user has rights to specific folders buried further in the shared data

you can use the SHOWACLS command to find out which groups have rights to a folder structure and then use UserManager to remove the user from those particular groups

Nice tool, rijay. * for finding it.

Start, Help. You'll be surprised what's there. A+/MCP/MCSE/MCDBA

I think you can use CACLS.EXE ( from the command line to do that as it comes with Windows...use wildcards to denote multiples. There are other free permission setting/remoiving apps out there including SETACL (

I use XCACLs which is free from Microsoft. You can dump the report to a text fiel and search for your users login name easily to find what they have access to.

I hope you find this post helpful.
