Is there a subreport limit with HTML report?

I have a report which I'm calling via the URL reporting method using crystal enterprise 8.0. I have already hit the problem of exceeding the cookie limit and having my ASP session timedout.

However I now find that the report runs fine when using the Active X control and fine when I directly export to Excel, but does not run properly when using the HTML viewer.

Now I've used the HTML viewer with other reports and they work fine. It prompts for all the usernames and pass words for all subreports. Now in my experience this means there could be just one error in the string but apart from the additional viewer parameters is exactly the same as the other two strings.

Even more strangley if I remove a couple of sub reports it starts to work.

Any ideas before I shoot myself?

Since that version is no longer supported, you probably can't download a service pack for it, but that sounds like the solution if you prefer the html viewer.

Perhaps you can locate the last known good patch for 8.0 and it will help.

The obvious solution would be to upgrade, although I can't speak to the html viewer's capabilities as I don't use it (it's horrible for printing).

OK might be worth a go, there is no way I'm going to get an upgrade for this project unfortunately.

And I have to offer a combination of active X and the HTML viewer because many different users from different organisations use the site and they can't all get round firewalls and IT departments that prohibit active x controls from being installed.

Thanks for the suggestion, I've got nothing to lose.
