I mean besides notepad, that is. Those log files are about 6 monitors wide and a mile long. How does anybody get any useful information out of them? I have some suspicious bandwidth usage on my w2k server with IIS, but I don't even know how to begin researching it. Any help will be appreciated!

Generally a logfile analyzer is used to extract meaningful information. Google for "web logfile analyzer" for a start. I use AWStats, personally.

Yeah, I tried that a while back, and I was not able to get it working.. it installed, and I thought I configured it correctly, but it never did start accumulating any data. I was hoping for something Windows specific that would just install and work with default settings. I've searched for tools, but it turns up too many hits, and I'm not about to start testing shareware on my server, so I was hoping for a solid recommendation. You're not the only one who has suggested awstats to me, though, so maybe I will give that another go.

LogParser is free and powerful and flexible.

I've built quite nice graphs and stats showing usage updated regularly for my intranet content administrators.

No wysiwyg and it can be frustrating to use but you say your a Programmer so you'll manage it!

I can post some examples if reqd
