Is there a problem with ADO using VC++ 5.0???

I have been trying to interface to a database using ADO for the past week or so...I get a variety of erros..and I followed speciic examples in several different tests. Can anyone answer conclusivly the following question...

"Does ADO not work with Visual C++ version 5.0 (Learning Edition)"

I finally came to the conclusion that my older version must be the problem as all my reference material is based on version 6.0.
