Hi, I'm using SourceSafe v5. Although I've no problems over the size it's database (i.e. the contents of the "data" directory), we've started wondering whether there is a maximum size that we should be aware of.

Currently, we have just over 600MB in the data directory.

Does anyone know if there is a maximum size, either in theory or practice?

Our database is currently 3.2 Gb in size (MSVC++ code). We have had it as large as 4.7Gb but, after reading the recommendation on MSDN to not let it grow over 5Gb, we archived.

Cool. Looks like we've got no space problems then!

Interesting that you mentioned archiving - I've tried the SSARC utility but can't get it to work! That is, it runs but doesn't actually archive anything off. I've tried it with a date on the "v" parameter and also a label, but it comes back with "nothing to do". Any ideas??
