Hi Everyone,

Had a user report that she did not receive any messages yesterday, so it means that there must be something wrong with the system. I later hear from a co-worker that this person's mailbox was full. Full mailbox makes more sense to me!

I've looked at the logs, checked the documenation and can't find where the system would track and/or report that condition. I remember the old Intuity system would show full mailbox conditions in the Admin. log. Anything like that in Modular Messaging?

We're running MM 3.0 with (2) MAS, an MMS backend and web server. Thanks.

Scott

Ok, I set my account up so it would give the mailbox full message to callers. Made a couple of test calls and got the rejection announcement. I then went in to the Operational History Viewer in the MAS and ran a report.

There is a line which reads: statement 482 played. This was time stamped around the same time I was trying to leave a message, but got a "mailbox full" message.

Does anyone know if there is a list of the statements and what is programmed to play? I feel like I'm getting closer.

Scott

If you look in the admin log on the MSS it will show you the full mailboxes

Hi Ken,

I've checked the Admin log and I can't find it. Below is the log from 10/17/07 when there was supposed to be a full mailbox for x-4250 ...

There's a locked mailbox for x-3343, but I can't see where there is any reference to a full mailbox.

I'll set up a dummy mailbox, give it a minute of message time, leave a message which will fill it up, then try to leave a message periodically throughout the day. I'll check the Admin log on Monday and see what I get.

By the way, have you come across any documentation that tells what the canned statements say? I mentioned previously, there is a reference in the OHV on the MAS that indicates statement 482 was played. I believe this is the statement that tells the caller that the mailbox cannot accept messages.

Thanks for your reply.

Thanks Janney, that's exactly what I was looking for. I have to say, I tried searching Avaya's support web site, obviously with no luck. Appreciate the effort.

Yes Ken, it is a bit weird. Additionally, if I go in to the Administrator's log and request only entries with an application of "VM" I get nothing. Could it be that there is a parameter not set correctly somewhere?

I ran a report from 09/01/07 to current (for all application entries) and there were no "VM" app entries. Something's gotta be missing.

I tried calling Avaya Global Delivery Services and asked why this might be happening, but bailed after waiting on hold for 45+ minutes!

Any other ideas on this one? Thanks.

Scott

What user name are you using to sign on the mss with?

I'm logging in using the "sa" login. I've tried "craft" but that doesn't get me any further.

Scott

Very odd ? Are you getting any other errors on the system

Hi Ken,

Nothing in the alarm log, but there are a couple of questionable entries in the admin log:

Date Time App Event ID Cnt Message
10/22/07 03:19:58 MT BKRST037 1 Error writing to hard drive

10/22/07 09:13:08 LD ADM_lsubbind 2 connect failed from IP=10.1.0.208:4333, rc=49, Invalid credentials

10/22/07 11:14:43 LD ADM_lsubbind 2 connect failed from IP=10.1.0.208:1359, rc=49, Invalid credentials

The hard drive error gives me a little pause, and I don't understand what the invalid credentials error means. The Modular Messaging web server is 10.1.0.208. Could be an invalid login.

I'm going to pursue the missing admin log entries with Avaya. I'll mention the hard drive error too and see what they say. I'll let you know what they come up with. Thanks for your help.

Scott

Th hard drive error is a backup error so the dvd may be bad or the ftp drive

I'm still trying to get Avaya to answer the phone for a Modular Messaging question. I think they've only got one part time person serving that queue! It may take a while, but I'll get someone to talk to me from Avaya.
