that outlines what cards can go in which slots in terms of power consumption. I am being told things that I find hard to believe and want to see it in writing. Specifically, that the -5v cards have to be put in alternately. I have a system with a DS1, 2 412s, ETR,Messaging. I want a document issued by AVAYA that outlines this stuff. Does it exist?

This subject matter is covered in the Legend Installation manual Release 6.0. It can be downloaded from support.avaya.com. There are tables for modules and phones covering power unit loads/requirements, etc.

Happy reading!

In the 3.0 Installation everything is covered except combination of cards and where they go in a cabinet. So a 6.0 manual as reference is kind of weak for a 3.0. But I will look, thanks

this document does not reference the limitations on the placement of specific cards in the cabinet. It give limitations to number, but not to placement.

Well I hate to beat a dead horse, but this is not what I'm looking for. Please don't get me wrong, I appreciate all your help. Even on the pages you pointed out ttech, nowhere is it stated that a particular card can't go in a certain slot or this card and that card can't be installed next to each other. I have been told that a PRI card can't be in slot one. If you look at my first post, that is the order the cards are in.

Again I say that there is no document outlining the exact position of cards in relation to each other. If there is I would love to see it.

As a matter of fact, this line is pulled right from the system planner:

Lastly, there can be any combination of the following three -5v dc modules per carrier, but do
not exceed three per carrier:
System Planning
Configuration Rules for Power Supplies (assumes a mix of telephone types)
H-2
? MAGIX/LEGEND processor
? Merlin Messaging Module
? 100D module (with or without built-in CSU/DSU)
? 100R INA Module
? 800 BRI Module
If you exceed three –5v dc modules in a single carrier, the system will fail to come on-line.

THERE IS NO ORDER. It was recommended at one time not to put a PRI as the first trunk card in the system, (if you did the PRI provider could busy out the first channel at their end), But that problem was resolved in s.w. version R7v10 or 11. It was never docunemented, It's Just something you pick up along the way.

On the Avaya site are all of the official doc's you will find, Unless someone has a qppcn sitting around that they can scan and post.

Ok, well I thought so as well until someone in tech support of the company that we buy from told me that it is a "well known" fact that 2 -5v cards couldn't be next to each other. I had never heard this as I have a bunch of Magix configured the same way and have had no problems. That is why it is a big deal if this is in writing somewhere.

The reason for all of this is I have one client that is having mysterious dropped calls and i can't figure out what it is. It appears theat moving the cards around has helped but I can't prove that it is fixed yet.

If this configuration limitation is documented then I have something to go on. Again thanks for your help, I really do appreciate it.
