I am currently working on my Certificate as a Sun Certified Programmer with Java2 Platform. My problem and concern is that I have looked all over the web at different job sites and I can not find any place with openings for entry lvl Java programmers. Most business are looking for Developer Certifications, or at least Java2EE programers. What are your thoughts?

Man,

I am studying Computer Science at the moment and it feels to me like I will also have to get Java Certification at the end in order to get work. Like you said there are lots of advertisments for J2EE work but few for Java and yes everybody wants a thousand years experience!

I reckon if Java is your breed and butter then go for it (the exam is meant to be really hard so passing it would be something to be proud of) but if you would rather spend your time on the driving range then grab you clubs and go have a swing.

Realistically I think there is only one thing that is going to get you a Java job once you have a list of qualifications as long as your arm - LUCK.

Talking of luck, good luck with your studies.

Regards

David
