Hi!

We are a small ISP running mostly Sun kit. Some machines run Solaris 8, others run 7 or even 2.6 because of software dependencies. Now, however, we are ready for a major software upgrade and will be taking those machines running Solaris 2.6 and 7 to at least 8.

In most, if not all, cases we could go up to Solaris 9 but we have no experience of this version yet. So I wonder, is there anyone out there using Solaris 9 in production? What has the experience been like? And what gotchas can we expect?

For some of the systems we have test environments, but not for all.

Thanks for any input.

mvh/regards

James

check the hardware, if it is sun, first test passed
check the drivers: HW Raid, D1000 or A1000, you might
need to update, and if EOL HW, you might get in trouble.

If not sure, migrate to Solaris 8 and apply all patches.
You nearly (more than 90%) got Solaris 9 functionality.

Otherwise, list what You have and we can see .... :-/
