We currently have two locations connected via vpn. All servers are virtualized on ESX 3.5.

Main site has 30 employees:

Server 2003 DC with DNS and DHCP
Exchange 2003
Server 2003 Application server with SQL 2005
Server 2003 Terminal server with Citrix Metaframe

Remote site has 4 employees:
Server 2003 DC with DNS and DHCP

I was thinking about consolidating all the server on main site into SBS 2011 loaded with either 16 or 32 gig of ram.

The DC on the remote site is use for authentication, DHCP, and DNS. Can I possible get away with remove the server on the remote site and forward all request to main site?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

The short answer is yes you can, however there are some things you need to consider.

Remote site: how fast and reliable is the connection to your main site, how do they access apps etc, is it all over TS?

What are you going to do with your apps and TS box?

do the users on the main site use TS/Citrix?

do you need citrix?

does the LOB application on the Apps server run in 64 bit and is it compatible with server 2008?

you might be better getting SBS 2011 premium which gives you a copy of 2008 R2 to install SQL on, you could also make this your terminal server and publish the TS apps to a web page using remote app.
