I'm looking at getting this motherboard:

MSI "K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI" NVIDIA nForce4 SLI Chipset Motherboard For AMD Socket 939 CPU -RETAIL

But it says it provides support for SATA-2 and I don't see it mentioning SATA (previous version). Does this mean it only supports SATA-2 and not 1.

If you helped... thx.

Yes it does both.

See this quote:
The MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI also features an additional Serial ATA II /RAID controller, which is a nice treat. Serial ATA II offers a whole host of improvements over the original Serial ATA standard, not just a speed increase.

Note ADDITIONAL*

I've got the Gigabte GA-K8NXP-SLI-8? which is there equivellent and it had both as well.

Just wanted to point out the following for others that might be wondering about SATA-II in general...

An SATA-II connector is backwards compatible and supports SATA-I drives.

When you have an SATA-II drive and an SATA-I connector, the drive will still work, but possibly without some SATA-II features enabled like NCW (Native Command Queuing). It all depends on the motherboard manufacturer and whether they have released official support through driver updates.
