This is probably a very basic question but I am at a loss as to how to gain access to my NT resources without NetBEUI.

I am attempting to dial in to an NT4 server from a Win98 computer with TCP/IP and NetBEUI installed. I was able to dial in fine. I then attempted to dial in from a Win98ME computer which did not have NetBEUI installed and was successful in connecting but unsuccessful in accessing the network resources. As a test, I removed NetBEUI from the first Win98 machine and was unable to access the network resources. When I reinstalled NetBEUI, I was able to connect to and access the NT resources fine.

It seems that NetBEUI is required to accessthe resources on the network in the current NT server configuration. How can I configure my server to not require NetBEUI? Is RRAS the answer? If it is, how do I install it and configure it? It is not listed in the Sevices or Potocols tabs withing the Network Properties.

First,
Do you have both computers on the same domain and workgroup? Do you have the ME logging on to the network? Do you have static addresses or DHCP? Check these things.
Next,
RRAS is available on the MS web site. Once run, you need to create and configure VPN connectors and a RRAS router, if you want to see the entire network. I suggest applying SP6a afterwards and retring it. [sig]
Draq
comtutor@uswestmail.net
Good Luck with this information
In the network properties on the ME I have the CLient for MS Networks checked with the correct domain, under ID I have the same workgroup. One interesting thing, when I start the ME, it does not include the domain in the login screen, only username and password.

I am using DHCP and the RAS server correctly assigns the IP address to the DUN client (I can ping the server).

Again, it works fine with NetBUEI installed but fails to access (but can still ping) when it is not installed. Is ther a configuration item on the server that I may be missing?

Since I don't want to go through an ISP, VPN is probably not an option at this point. But would installing RRAS help be with DUN?

Thanks for your help. [sig][/sig]
