Is rc.local the place to be putting files to auto start on bootup ?

I seem to recall on AIX 4.2.1 that a file called rc.local in /etc was used to start bespoke scripts when a Server was rebooted normally.

Is this still the case for 4.3.3 ?

Noticed that this file is not present on the box I look after. As I need to have the Informix Sqlexec program to start up if a server reboots.

Thanks for the advance.

I use rc.oracle and link it in to /etc/inittab to start up oracle on my systems - I think thats the accepted way

I don't have an rc.local either but I see no reason why you should not :)
