I'm reading up on public-unknown-numbering and I'm a little confused. What is the main purpose of this feature?
Is it used mainly for a extension/range to show a specific DID numbers? Can you also force calls to specific trunk via public-unknown-numbering?

I have public-unknown-numbering showing the following

ext Len Ext Code Trk Grp CPN Total CPN Len
10 555 20-60 7

This entry has no CPN, what does it mean?

That means that for extensions of 10 digits in length, beginning with 555, when going out trunk groups 20 thru 60 on calls designated with public numbering, will send a total CPN length of 7 digits being the last 7 digits of their extension

If I had all of the 555-444-1000-1999, and extensions numbered 1000-1999, I could have extn length 4, code 1, trunk blank (to mean all of them), total CPN 10, and insert 555-444 and that 1 line would let extension 1000-1999 pass their DID out as caller ID.

One of the usage would be if you had agents that did not have DID numbers or you wanted the person being call by a group of agent to only call back on a single 8xx number, etc.
And no, you can not restrict the Trunk group a call will make using public-unknown, you would use ARS,and route tables for that.
