I have been running Procomm for about 10 years. On a single machine I have 16 modems installed and connected to ports 3 thru 18.
Here is my problem with PW5. I am unable to establish communications with more than 9 modems. When I open the 10th window, it automatically defaults to "Direct Connect-None". When I try to select a 10th modem, I get an error message in the status bar, "Unable to Establish Communication - TAPI".
The issue here is not accessing ports over Com 9. That I can do. Here is my current setup and some of my troubleshooting results.

Hayes Compatible 9600 #14 [Com16]
Hayes Compatible 9600 #15 [Com17]
Hayes Compatible 9600 #16 [Com18]
Those are all available in my modem selection list in addition to Direct Connect-Com1 thru Direct Connect-Com9.
I can select any of those modems or Direct Connections and successfully communicate with the modem. I can do this in up to 9 seperate windows, but not a 10th window. I have tried all sorts of various combinations such as modems 8 thru 16 or modems 1,2,3,4,5,10,13,15,16 or even a combination of modems and direct connections. I have no problems doing that as long as I am using 9 windows or less. I can even open up 7 Hyper terminal windows on Modems 10-16 and 9 Procomm sessions on 1-9 and effectively communicate with all 16 modems simultaneously. But It appears I am limited to 9 or less simultaneous windows/modem connections with Procomm. I have added ports in the PW5.INI file per knowledge base article on accessing direct connection on com ports higher than 10, but still no success. Again, It's not that I can't communicate with a modem connected to ports 10 or higher. Windows allows me to create a modem and assign it to any port, then Procomm has no problem using that modem connection.
Any thoughts or ideas here would be greatly appreciated. I need to scale these boxes to run more than 9 windows/modems.
Thanks.
