Does anyone have an idea about the availability of .NET on the linux server. Somebody told me that a company named mono is working on such a project. Is this really possible? I'm quite excited to hear such a news, but am not sure whether is this a better idea or not? Would appreciate if someone will clarfiy this issue. Thanks.

There's another company named Halcyon Software who is also engaged in such undertaking. They have develpoed a product code name iNET, which is a true Java implementation of the entire .NET framework. iNET runs perfectly well on linux as well as on a host of other open source, and propreitory platforms.

It takes MSIL code and converts it into Java source and Java class files which inturn can be ported virtually on any platfom running JVM. For more info, grab iNET's informative whitepaper available from halcyon's website.

Hope that helps...

Regards,

Jerry
