Hallo.
I need to copy some files across a network (some .doc files, some .dwg files, miscellaneous others) and wondered if opening & copying them all in binary mode would be okay.
Or are the rules like in ftp, where you have to know the file-type & choose ascii or binary?

Cheers,
Douglas JL

If it don't make you laugh, it ain't true.

Usually opening in binary Mode is Ok. But if you are transfering data to a Processor with different Mode of handling the data (Big/Little Endian) then you should use FTP to make sure, that these differences are handled properly. Otherwise i am not sure that there is no fault.

Thanks alot, man. I should be fine with binary, as it's all on the same NT server.
