I have to make a 720 page phone book (by Friday); I'm no expert in ID, and I have no idea how to import my data into the layout I need!!!
EX: Name
Address..............Zip Phone #
And Yellow pages are a whole other story!
I have what I need in Excel, Access, even saved in XML. Perhaps, it's not really realistic to attempt this many pages. Any advice will do!!!!
Thanks in Advance!
Brooke

InDesign should handle that many pages. I'm not so sure about the designer with that deadline.

If you have the info in excel, you should be able to import it. Just make sure that you allow it to flow through the pages (check Help for "flow text".

When you do the "Place" and choose the Excel doc make sure that you check "show import options" on the Place window.

You can also use Window menu/Data merge and use Excel doc as source or Access (don't know anything about that.

720 page isn't that much, especially with just text, but you need a lot of RAM. If you don't have a lot make sure to quit all other apps.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

If RAM is an issue, this could be assembled in smaller files and then merged in an InDesign book.
