Hi Chloe,
In all likelihood, version 9.5 will require at least Windows 95, so your office should expect to have to upgrade from Windows 3.1, if that's what your office still has.
I expect that version 5 might run on Windows 3.1.
However, a major consideration, in my humble opinion, and seemingly also that of MANY others, judging by the response to the posting "is Lotus 123 Release 5 compatible with Windows 2000???”… is whether to make the HUGE JUMP, when in fact you might be better off with Release 5.
There’s obviously GOOD reason for SO MANY Lotus 123 users sticking with Release 5. Rather than go into detail (again), I would suggest that you read some of the comments (many of them mine) in the other thread just mentioned.
I can tell you that Release 5 is a significant improvement over version 4, and as mentioned in the other thread, is STILL the BEST spreadsheet software on the market, in my opinion. The modern day version of Excel does SIMPLE things VERY well, but DIFFICULT tasks are EXTREMELY challenging as compared to Lotus 123 version 5.
