Multiple people at our office are requesting the ability to work from home if they need to. Is it wise to install, let’s say "PC anywhere", on everyone’s computers and open associated ports in our fire wall?

I’m curious that it might make our network more vulnerable to intrusion.

We currently have static external IP addresses with ports open redirecting to static internal ip addresses through those associated ports for the administrators only.

Should I do the same for everyone who demands outside control of their systems? Is this safe?

If your users could get statics, that might be okay but then you are "trusting" your user's network setup. But it is very unlikely that everyone could get static ips. You are better off using some SSL/VPN solution to authenticate and gain access to your internal stuff.

Take a look at
It's free, and easy to use. The whole thing depends on the number of users you have, and how well you trust them. If it three people you know well, go for it. If its 250 people you don't know, go with a vpn. Good luck.
