Is it possible for the Arcserve 7.0 software to accept a media pool spanned over 2 different drives? I currently have one DLT1 tape drive, my backup job runs over into the second tape. I would like to daisy chain two of these DLT drives together, create a media pool from the two different drives and have the backup access one drive and then the other in order to complete the job instead of having to change the tape. I am running into lots of problems having to change the tape because it times out and loses connection, fails the job... I have tried numerous things including changing the timeout settings in the registry and nothing fixes it. I also now have the problem, when I insert the second tape, I have to hit the OK button for it to accept the tape, otherwise it sits until you do. I have applied the patch QO27941 several times and that doesnt correct the issue. Any ideas? Thanks for your input.

The answer is YES but it must be an identical type of drive to the first one.
You do not need to daisy chain it to the 1st drive, and it will work regardless of Media Pool (which is device independent).
You need to make sure that both drives are in the same group (lets say Group0) and that you load a blank tape in the second drive.
that's it
cheers
