is it possible to use sql with cr9?

Is it possible to have with sql a query that select a list of records and use it as a part of a report.
I tried with the "command" in database expert but it's very slow on a simple query and when i try to add tables the sql view seems to show only the table and not the complete sql text, and it's not working?

So you used add command, and then adding tables via Database add Database, or?

Use the Add Command OR another means of supplying data.

If you want to add tables, modify the SQL used in the Add Command (I think that it's Database->Set Location in CR 9 or Database->Verify Database).

synapsevampire, thank you for your help, here is the problem :
i have a list of items
3 tables
- item table with descriptive information for items
- inventory table with itemRef, qty, location (the item may be in several locations), QualityStatus, batchNum (several)
- orders table with itemRef, orderNum, qty, date

I need to find items which total inventory for a specified "A" status is greater than the orders on it up to a sepcified date.
I tried with subreport but performance was poor

My project is to link the item table to command output for sum of inventory by item, and also to command output to sum of orders by item up to a parameter date.

I make first the add command to create the total inventory in database Expert, and after I choose in the dataBase Expert the item table, creating a left join from item to totalInventory, but it does not work, so I'm far away af the success!

Any help ?
