Is it possible to Restore SQL 7.0 database to SQL 2000 server ? Will the Sql 7.0 database automatically become a SQL 2000 database after the restore. Please advise. Thanks.

Yes, it is possible to do that (restore SQL Server 7.0 to a SQL Server 2000 instance). I'm not sure about the second part of your question.

what I meant of my second part of my question is that is it applicable to apply the SQL 2000 system store procedures to my Sql 7.0 database after restoring to SQL 2000 database format?

This becuase I have an application that is running on SQL 7.0 database backend and now I need to upgrade my application that will only works on SQL2000 backend. So I am thinking of getting a backup of my Sql 7.0 database and resotre it to my new SQL 2000 server and run the my upgrade application from there. Is it possible? Or do I have to upgrade my current SQL 7.0 to SQL 2000?
