is it possible to "hold" or "suspend" a session

Does informix offer some method to place a session into a hold state that can then be released at a later time? Something from the AS400 world that I am wishing I could do.

You can always try blocking the server using onmode.

onmode -c [block|unblock]

This will block the server in a checkpoint, hence blocking ALL transaction processing.


However, you probably don't want to do this on a production system unless you can have some downtime.

Dependant on your OS try issuing a kill -23 <pid> or stop to suspend process then kill -25 <pid> or cont to continue
