Is it possible to disable the logon screen?

so as the question say, is it possible to disable the user logon screens? a friend of mine said it was possible in win xp, but i found this page that said it's not:

if you can, how do you?

Start button, Run, control usserpasswords2
Uncheck the first box.

You will be asked to pass a default username (Admistrator) and passsword (likely empty),
