Curious...some of our employees keep dialing 911..is there a way to change the outdial access code from 9 to 8?

Yes, we did this 10 years ago when we first got the 11C with PRI trunks.

Before you do this, and if you have newer code levels, you might look at the new ESA features to protect against 911 misdials.

If you still want to do this, it is done by changing AC1 in LD 86, under the FEAT ESN. PRT the existing ESN before you change it.

You will want to confirm that there are no numbering conflicts in the 8* range.

Instruirmi,

What series 3Com do you have? NBX? VCX? What OS are you running? It can be done pretty easily but curtismo is right. Check out recent enhancements in E911 handling.

Curtismo,

Isn't the 11C a Nortel box. Commands sound like Nortel.

It is a 3Com NBX...not sure of the OS? I know it can be done on Nortel like Curtismo says...was not sure on 3Com. Old Man can you point me to any guides for the 3Com?

Absolutely. Go into the NetSet. If the system is running a version earlier than R6, go to TabToIt; the yellow folder with a t on it. Then click on the Documentation tab. In there you will find the Installation Guide, Administrator Guide and all of the user guides specific to the version you are running.

If it is R6 or newer, scroll the mouse over the left side navigation pane to Downloads and select Document5ation from the pop out menu. This will give you access to all of the documentation.

If for some reason, that does not work, post back. 3Com has transitioned over to HP and finding things can be a challenge. Hope that helps.
