Is it possible to cause postback in a usercontrol from another one?

I have a page with two user controls on it.

One of them displays information dependant on the session state. The other receives information and alters the session in button click events. The second control then posts back as expected.

My problem is that the first control (the one displaying information) only alters after a page refresh or additional postback.

I can't control the render or renderChildren methods on the first control from the second due to their protection levels.

At the moment I'm having to redirect the browser back to the page I am already on and use the session much as I would have in traditional ASP. I'm sure there must be a way of doing it.

Anyone?
