Hello all,

Is it possible add DNS server address remotely (eg. in logon script) to all computers in AD? First I tried to do a batch file which basically runs "reg add" command
but the problem is that key name for tcpip\parametres\interfaces is different in every computer.
Can I make a dns.reg

So help anyone?

And you don't want to push it out via DHCP? If your problem is the amount of time it would take for all the clients to pick up the new address, you could speed things up by changing your lease times to 4 hours, then waiting 5 days. Then change the DNS address in DHCP. The client DNS settings will change either within 2 hours or on startup, if they are offline. Later you can extend the lease time again. This narrows your change window to a couple of hours, during which time you can methodically change the systems that are set to get their info statically.

Incidentally, this is why it's good to keep even static systems configured for DHCP, but using reservations. This way, even though the IP will never change, you can still use DHCP's mechanism to change other info, like DNS server or DNS suffix.

The problem with trying to do this via reghack is exactly what you said: the differences in the key name for the interfaces portion of the registry is going to keep you from scripting this.
