Is it Necessary to install MIBs in agent system

hi to all,

iam trying to get the performance counter values of a remote system. is it necessary to install the mibs in remote system also. if the mibs does not exist in the remote system, it will not giving the value, if it is intalled then, it will giving the value.

so anyone could help me. is it necessary to install the MIBs in remote system, if it is, then tell me how to install remotely.
