Is it fine to have 8.5 and 7.0 reports on the same machine?

Hi all,

I have developed reports using 8.5 I need to distribute these reports along with my VB application to the users. They have already an other VB application on their machines using crystal reports 7.0. Will both the versions work without any problem or is there any problem?

Just be careful where you place the dlls. Only the graphing stuff needs to be in WIN\System32 and I believe the file names changed for 8.0 so you should be OK.
The rest of the runtime stuff can just go in a subdirectory of your app. Andrew Baines

Sometimes this works, but often it doesn't, depending on how the v7 program uses the dlls. The only way to know for sure is to install on a test machine. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting
