i read in the ibm redbook papers that for aix 5l, the bootinfo command is no longer valid and also in my book for aix 5l it uses the boot command instead. but in my aix crib sheet which was published in 2006 it uses bootinfo. so, which command is valid for aix 5l?

Yes, bootinfo has been depreciated as of AIX 4.2. However, I still use it daily on AIX 4.3.3/5.x systems.

I think the replacement is 'getconf', which I personally never use, but I guess its a good practice to start using.

Regarding the 'boot' command, I have never come across it. Not sure even if it exists
