Hi All,
I had a doubt.we have 2522 series routers and we use Ipx routing as all of our servers are Novell servers.
When i went through the configuration of router i came to know that a line is mentioned as Ipx network number - destination std code and source destination code-
could anyone elaborate me why it is necessary to specify the ipx network number for ipx routing

thanks,
karthik

All novell machines are software routers, they advertise services by sap broadcasts, the routing protocol default is
ipx rip.
Just as in any other type of data transmission the
sending host needs to know how to get to the recieving
host..
These internal networks must be identified, thus the ipx network #.
For the routers to communicate they must be on the same ipx network as well (with ipx rip) they will need a network id
that is common between them.

If you are not using IPX rip, and have manually configured nlsp-then you have several networks-
one global internal ipx address for LSA id and
then the individual ipx networks per interface and
the shared WAN network id.

Look at ipxwan as an alternative to ipx rip and manually configuring nlsp.
