Crystal Enterprise 10

What we are concerned with is we need to be able to view historical data. Each month, our data is updated with new data and the reports are run against that. The old data is removed and stored off site. We want to be able to use Crystal to view the current reports but we also want the old reports to be saved in another location in PDF format. If I schedule the reports to run to the unmanaged disk, will the instance still be stored in the repository so people can view that instad of hitting the SQL server?

In CE 9 (and I suume 10) you'll still have the link to it within the History if that's what you're after.

So you can purge data in the database and use CE historical instancing.

Can you think of any way to preserve CE security? I understand that if you either move the output PDF files, or if you set your CE limits so that the older instances are never deleted by the system after reaching x number of instances or instances that are more than x number of days old, you can save those files. But is there any way to allow users to continue to log into CE to view those instances like a true archive (assuming you have to purge at some point)?

If User #1 logs in but only has access to one folder in CE, can the security still prevent him from accessing the other folders (with the archived historical instances) he does not have access to in CE? The only way I have been able to think of to do this is to never delete any historical instances from CE -- otherwise you would just have files and the APS database would know nothing about them if they rolled off due to age. And that would require building a whole new interface somehow if the APS does not know these files, meaning building a new security model outside of CE. Any thoughts to maintain an archive of old instances that maintains security? We have been struggling with this for a while but have not found a good solution.
