Is Illustrator worth it for this?

I'm thinking about making a graphic novel, just for my own time sake. Most of my friends agree that my story would make a much better comic, even I do, cause there's so many scenes that I just have no idea how to "describe".

But my sister is a computer art/design freak, and she told me I should do it, and that if I get illustrator it would make it ALOT easier.

Anyone have any experiance with it? Is it worth it?

...illustrator is a great application for vector illustration, there are some free ones out there as well...

...illustrator isn't really a multi-page layout application though, particularly true for large publications, you would be better off with Indesign (or dare I mention it too Quark) for large multi-page publications. Unless, of course, your publication is only likely to be a small number pages long then go for it in Illustrator...

...Adobe apps are also good in combination with a graphic tablet, or if you have cash to burn a cintiq:
