Is IB the Best Choice ?

I still develop application in Clipper 5.3 but need to
convert it to visual. Is InterBase the Best Choice to
use in customers where they probably will not pay
for traditional databases like SQLServer and others ?
Is Interbase fast enought running in PIII 800 MHz
128 MB RAM ? And keep fast even when grow til
500,000 registers in two or three tables ?
My application serve stores with 20 to 2,000
transactions in terms of sells and 50 to 10,000
in terms of selled products.
If Interbase is not the answer what should I Use ?

I think that Interbase is up to the task.
